Form introduction
Entries are invited for the Newsreel Asia National On-Ground Reporting Award 2026.
The theme for 2026 is civic engagement and citizen-led efforts towards good governance in India. Eligible entries must report on citizens, communities, informal groups or civil society organisations working to address public problems, improve government services, hold public authorities accountable or participate in public decision-making.
The entry must have been published or broadcast between September 15, 2025, and September 15, 2026. It must be based substantially on first-hand observations and in-person interviews conducted at the places being reported on.
Entries close at 11:59 p.m. IST on September 30, 2026. Please submit a separate form for each entry.
Before you apply
The entry must meet all the conditions below. Entries that fail an eligibility check may be disqualified.
Confirm that the entry meets all the following conditions:
Applicants must select all five statements.
• It was published or broadcast between September 15, 2025, and September 15, 2026.
• It concerns civic engagement in India and matches the 2026 theme.
• It is based substantially on on-ground reporting.
• It was published by an Indian media outlet or on an Indian journalist’s own public platform.
• It is not a press release, sponsored content, an advertorial, an institutional film, campaign material or work produced primarily for public relations.
